August 30, 2020 – Ullambana Festival is also known as “Buddha’s Joyful Day” by Buddhist practitioners. It is a good day to accumulate merits by offering to the monks who have dedicated their lives to self-cultivation! On this day, with great mercy and compassion, the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva opened the doors of hell to save all beings confined in hell. It is also a good time to express filial piety towards parents, alive or departed; pray for blessings for parents and ancestors.
Bodhi Meditation Toronto held a grand online blessing ceremony to celebrate this occasion. It was a solemn and dignified occasion with over two thousand light offerings dedicated to departed souls to send auspicious blessings!
